The Engraved style of the Zen Vedic Series is hand-engraved by skilled artisans onto a lathed, smooth-finished bronze surface, with each line, petal, and motif cut into the metal by a craftsperson working point by point. Unlike laser etching, which is fast and identical across every bowl, hand engraving carries the rhythm of the maker's hand, the small variations in pressure and pacing that make each piece quietly individual. The result is artwork with depth, warmth, and the unmistakable signature of human craft, paired with the rich, sustained voice the Vedic Series is built around.
The result is a bowl that earns a second look before you ever strike it, and a third one after you do. Whether it lives on an altar, finds its way into session work, or sits where it can simply be looked at, an Engraved bowl carries its presence in both directions, what you see and what you hear, and the time invested in each one shows in every detail.
Engraved Design
This Engraved Zen Vedic Series bowl is hand-finished with a seated Buddha at its center, hands held together at the chest in a gesture of reverence, seated on a lotus base and framed by a circular halo that rises behind the head. Surrounding the Buddha, the outside of the bowl is filled with a repeating field of large rosette blossoms linked by curling vines and slender leaves, with the pattern wrapping the entire body in a steady, garden-like rhythm that frames the central figure without crowding it. A delicate band of small repeating motifs traces the upper rim and a finely worked lotus-petal border rings the lower body, framing the composition between two clean lines, while the lathed interior is left smooth and unadorned, returning attention to the bowl's pure resonant voice. Together, the design pairs the quiet, devotional presence of the Buddha with the ordered abundance of the surrounding rosette field, where the lotus petal border at the base grounds the entire composition in the symbol of awakening and the unfolding of the dharma, a bowl that brings devotion and pattern into balanced hand-engraved form.
About the Zen Vedic Series
The Zen Singing Bowls Vedic Series is hand-crafted in India by skilled artisans working in a long-standing metalsmithing tradition. Though singing bowls are often referred to as Tibetan Singing Bowls, Tibet itself does not produce them. The bowls associated with this practice are made across the broader Himalayan and South Asian region, with India being one of the key centers of production. Each Vedic Series bowl is shaped, hammered, and finished by hand, carrying the small variations and character marks that come with traditional craftsmanship. No two bowls are identical, and each one reflects the maker's touch.
