The Engraved style of the Zen Vedic Series is hand-engraved by skilled artisans onto a lathed, smooth-finished bronze surface, with each line, petal, and motif cut into the metal by a craftsperson working point by point. Unlike laser etching, which is fast and identical across every bowl, hand engraving carries the rhythm of the maker's hand, the small variations in pressure and pacing that make each piece quietly individual. The result is artwork with depth, warmth, and the unmistakable signature of human craft, paired with the rich, sustained voice the Vedic Series is built around.
The result is a bowl that earns a second look before you ever strike it, and a third one after you do. Whether it lives on an altar, finds its way into session work, or sits where it can simply be looked at, an Engraved bowl carries its presence in both directions, what you see and what you hear, and the time invested in each one shows in every detail.
Engraved Design
This Engraved Zen Vedic Series bowl is hand-finished with intricate floral patterning that wraps the entire outside surface, with arched lattice frames containing densely rendered flowers, leaves, and vines repeating around the body. The lathed interior is left smooth and unadorned, drawing the eye and the ear back to the bowl's pure resonant form. The bottom carries a decorative engraved border ringing the base, marking the transition between the patterned body and the smooth bottom. Together, the design honors the Mughal and Indo-Persian floral tradition that has long influenced South Asian metalwork, a bowl that speaks more through pattern and craft than through symbolic iconography.
About the Zen Vedic Series
The Zen Singing Bowls Vedic Series is hand-crafted in India by skilled artisans working in a long-standing metalsmithing tradition. Though singing bowls are often referred to as Tibetan Singing Bowls, Tibet itself does not produce them. The bowls associated with this practice are made across the broader Himalayan and South Asian region, with India being one of the key centers of production. Each Vedic Series bowl is shaped, hammered, and finished by hand, carrying the small variations and character marks that come with traditional craftsmanship. No two bowls are identical, and each one reflects the maker's touch.
