The Full Moon Supermoon Edition of the Zen Vedic Series is hand-hammered by skilled artisans, then lathed smooth and finished with the deep, smoked Full Moon patina that gives each bowl its quiet, darkened character. What sets this edition apart is the day it was made. Each bowl in this small batch was forged on December 4, 2025, during the final supermoon of the year, when the moon reached its closest approach to Earth in the sign of Gemini. The December supermoon is traditionally associated with completion, reflection, and the closing of a cycle, a time for releasing what no longer serves and preparing the ground for what comes next. In many lunar traditions, its placement in Gemini layers in themes of communication, duality, and integration, often read as a moment for bringing together opposing thoughts or finishing unspoken conversations before stepping into a new year. Practitioners who work with the lunar cycles often treat this final full moon as one of the most meaningful points of the year for reset and intention setting, and these bowls carry the energetic signature of that moment in their making.
The result is a bowl that holds its origin in both visible and felt ways. The hand-hammered body keeps the rhythm of the maker's tools across its surface, while the rim is etched by hand with sacred markings rendered with the same restraint the Full Moon finish is known for. Whether the bowl lives on an altar, finds its way into ritual or session work, or simply rests where it can be sat with, this edition was made for moments of reset, reflection, and intention.
Etched Design
This Full Moon Supermoon Edition Zen Vedic Series bowl carries three hand-etched markings along the upper body, deliberately placed against the otherwise unadorned hammered surface. On one side, a circular medallion contains the stylized round Shou character, the traditional Chinese symbol of longevity, composed of four geometric forms arranged around a central cross, a motif found throughout Asian decorative arts as a wish for long life and continuity. On the opposite side, a flowing line of Sanskrit script renders the Om Mani Padme Hum mantra, the six-syllable mantra of compassion associated with Avalokiteshvara, one of the most widely recited mantras across the Himalayan Buddhist world. A second, shorter Sanskrit inscription nearby carries the name of the manufacturer in their own script, a quiet maker's mark left by the artisans who shaped the bowl. Together, the three markings pair a wish for longevity, the sound of compassion, and the signature of the human hands that made the piece, set against the dark, smoked surface that gives the Full Moon Supermoon Edition its distinct, contemplative weight.
About the Zen Vedic Series
The Zen Singing Bowls Vedic Series is hand-crafted in India by skilled artisans working in a long-standing metalsmithing tradition. Though singing bowls are often referred to as Tibetan Singing Bowls, Tibet itself does not produce them. The bowls associated with this practice are made across the broader Himalayan and South Asian region, with India being one of the key centers of production. Each Vedic Series bowl is shaped, hammered, and finished by hand, carrying the small variations and character marks that come with traditional craftsmanship. No two bowls are identical, and each one reflects the maker's touch.
