Engraved Design
This Engraved Zen Vedic Series bowl is hand-finished with a composition of alternating paisley and lotus motifs that wrap the entire outside surface, with the curving teardrop form of the paisley set beside open, multi-petaled lotus blossoms in a steady repeating rhythm around the body. Slender stems, small blossoms, and curling leaves connect the larger motifs, with finely hatched background work giving the surface its layered depth and pushing the central forms forward. A fine beaded band traces the upper rim, framing the composition, while the lathed interior is left smooth and unadorned, returning attention to the bowl's pure resonant voice. Together, the design draws on the long South Asian tradition of the paisley, or boteh, paired with the lotus, where the paisley carries associations of life, eternity, and the flowering bud, and the lotus stands for purity and awakening, a bowl that brings two of the most enduring symbols of Indian decorative art into balanced hand-engraved form.

The Zen Singing Bowls Vedic Series is hand-crafted in India by skilled artisans working in a long-standing metalsmithing tradition. Though singing bowls are often referred to as Tibetan Singing Bowls, Tibet itself does not produce them. The bowls associated with this practice are made across the broader Himalayan and South Asian region, with India being one of the key centers of production.
